This journal is mostly friends only these days.
I think I'm becoming increasingly more private as I get older ;-)
If you want to add me, please do - but comment so I can know you've done it and add you back!

This is really funny, I found this quiz thing in an old journal entry of mine - when I last did it I got an age of 27, haha!
What's become of me, I'm only 23!!
You Act Like You Are 35 Years Old
|

You are a thirty-something at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!
You're responsible, wise, and have enough experience to understand a lot of the world.
You're at the point in your life where you understand yourself pretty well.
You are figuring out what you want... and how to get it!

So those of you who read an entry of mine about a month ago know that I was making a music video for Sixstarhotel's song Crystal Fists (http://www.myspace.com/sixstarhotel)
I finally uploaded it to youtube, here it is if you want to watch it :-)
All comments are most welcome :-)

So some good news! I submitted a project to the ISTD (International Society of Typographic Designers) and I passed! So that makes me a fancy type nerd now ;-) As far as I know, I also get to go to an award ceremony next month, which will be awesome!!
The brief was to take two film quotations, one classic (pre-1980) and one contemporary (post-1980) and typographically represent them.
I chose a quote from the 1976 film Network, and one from 1999's Fight Club. The theme gluing the two together was a general bitterness towards to mass media/primarily television.
The brief only asked to interpret two quotes, but I felt like it was a bit ambiguous, so I expanded the brief to include a program for a film festival.
I apologise for the quality of these images, I had to quickly take them on the morning of the submission! oops!
Anyhoo - it's an A1 poster that folds down. The middle would be perforated so the two posters could be detached from each other, making separate posters :)
Any comments very welcome, of course :D
this is the front with the Network quote (the other information relates to the fictitious information I created about the film festival, and this side documents the classic films)
and the back with the fight club quote (the other information relates to the fictitious information I created about the film festival, and this side documents the contemporary films)
some background info: I hand-cut all these letters. I made an entire alphabet out of foam and set it onto cardboard, making some cheap-ass letterpress-style letters. I then loaded them up with paint and tried to put some meaning into the words :)

This week I embarked on something that I'd been talking about doing for a long time - a music video. As in, making one ;-), not watching one...haha I do that all the time. This project represents almost half of my second semester, so I have to make it work...eek, pressure.
Anyway, it was for local band Sixstarhotel and their song Crystal Fists (check out their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/sixstarhotel ). I knew them already, so it was generally an arrangement where we were helping each other out. I got to shoot a kickass band for my project, they get a music video - everyone's happy. And flip, was I happy - they were an absolute dream to work with. It was *really* hard work, but I really enjoyed myself, and I felt like everything just happened so naturally. Also - everything went to schedule, which was amazing.
Craig took some stills of the two day shoot to document what was going on, so even though I don't have the vid edited yet (and won't until sometime in May - I have to see to my other uni commitments first), here are some pictures to show what was going on.

Here's another uni project from last semester. This one was a typography project, primarily.
The brief this time was to design a tv ad for fictitious Channel 4 history programme 'Moments In Time'. It said to choose 15 events that changed history and make a 30 sec promo. Some people went for invention, I went down a 20th century socio-political route.
Here it is - please forgive the very dodgy compression, I suck at uploading video!

I made these for a uni project last semester, thought it was about time I made a non-text entry.
The title of the project was 'the journey', and it was a really loose brief - the only requirement was that the actual journey had to be a mile long, the rest was up to me.
I interpreted it as the same journey through the eyes of two very different people - an optimist and a pessimist. So it's the same 'journey', but what they see along the way is different.
I was happy with the pessimist, but I ran out of time for the optimist. To be honest, I guess it brought out the pessimist in me, because I struggled to find optimistic sights in Belfast city centre :-/ Hmm...
Anyway, here they are. They were printed back to back as one body of work, and concertina folded. Sorry they're a bit small and lacking in detail, but sure the gist is there.
The Pessimist:

I know I seem like I post pictures of rabbits (or other cute creatures) on my livejournal these days, and for that I apologise and promise to update with some substance soon! ;-)
BUT this is so cute.
Cooper, my little boy rabbit. I posted this photo up a few months ago when he was about a year old.
A few weeks after that he started to molt for the first time and when it was finished, BEHOLD, he had a marvellous beard!!
Fact:

How hilarious is that? To be fair it was to be expected, he's a Lionhead rabbit and is meant to have a mane, but we just thought he wasn't destined to have one. I love it, it makes me laugh...he always looks so wise, haha!

Howdy y'all...I've kinda been AWOL for a long time. Let this ridiculous photo be a marker that I'm not dead, and I'll be back (very very soon).

check out the latest addition to my family!

so paul (bearded dude from previous photo-posts) asked me if I wanted to adopt a lil wabbit that belonged to his nephews and niece (who had lost interest in her). They moved into a house without a garden so the poor lil thing had been in it's hutch for 2 months with no freedom to run about. Fortunately my garden is a good size, so she has been rescued and she's having a great time leaping about my garden and munching on carrots!
wheeeee! ( more cuteness under the cut )
